HPL stairways:
Benefits of a new material
HPL stairways have an immediately captivating high-quality design and their own unique contours. What makes this type of stairway so special is the HPL (high pressure laminate) used for the stair cheeks. HPL is a highly stable and extraordinarily wear resistant material which is relatively light in itself. And because its weighs so little this innovative high pressure laminate is perfect in new stairs. What is more, in combination with natural woods it lends an unmistakably modern look to any stairway.
High pressure laminates are made of 60% kraft paper and 40% phenolic resins, they are formidably durable, functional and attractive and can withstand an extraordinary amount of wear and tear. Among their many advantages melamine resins not only make decoratively aesthetic surfaces impact resistant and non-porous, they are 20 times harder than conventional stair paint even without any further surface finishing. HPL stairways not only have highly impressive acoustic values, they weigh so little that reinforcing ceiling structures are entirely superfluous.
In the HPL stairways we make, the steps are connected to the stringers from the inside using special and visually attractive stainless steel fittings, meaning that no unsightly bolt connections on the open stringers are necessary.
