Wood is a natural
raw material
Wood is a a naturally fine, vibrant and extremely durable material, giving its surroundings a warm and cosy character. Its colour, structure and grain make every wooden stair into an unmistakable and unique piece. We stock a large selection of different wood types for every taste: besides paler woods like maple, beech or cherry, there are also darker ones such as walnut or oak, and exotic timbers like merbau or wenge. To build our stairs, we use only wood from the controlled and sustainable timber industry, and if required also with certification according to the globally applicable standards of the FSC (Forest Stewartship Council) for responsible forestry. Samples of all wood types we use can be seen here.
The final treatment of the wood has a crucial effect on the appearance of the completed solid wood stair. Most stairs are varnished or oiled. Sealing with environmentally friendly varnish mades the stair extremely resistant to abrasion and also particularly easy to care for. Treatment with special hard oils gives the stair not only a very natural look, but also a strong protective film of vegetable resins that you can touch up yourself when necessary.
